Our goal at Childlike Faith Academy of Music and Theatre (CFA) is to raise joyful children through performing arts. We believe that each child is uniquely created for a great purpose in life. With joy, children are empowered to realize the greatness that lies within them and to release their potential to the fullest.

MISSION STATEMENT

We strive to give the next generation a platform in music and performing arts to discover and express themselves, develop self-confidence, and cooperate with others, thereby unleashing their full potential in a fun, creative and artistic way. CFA is also a place to equip people (staff) who are passionate in performing arts and to empower them to pursue their fullest potential and destiny.

THE FOUNDING OF CFA

If we partner with God to bring His Kingdom on earth, miracles will happen! All we need is to have enough faith to be willing to trust and step out to do so. From a secular point of view, founding Childlike Faith Academy of Music and Theatre (CFA) was indeed one of the most undeniable and incredible miracle that happened in my life, hence the name of the school. Let's give you some background information. 

If you were to ask me what my passion in life is besides God, without a doubt, I would say performing arts, especially dancing. I find that my soar-like-an-eagle moments in life, most often happens when I'm doing performing arts, especially when performing with Holy Spirit. People always tell me that I have supernatural perseverance, the strength and motivation behind it were developed through my passion for God and performing arts for all these years. It is not a surprise that my childhood dream was to open a performing arts school. Unfortunately, both my passion and dream were put aside for the longest time due to the heavy performing spirit that has been a strong bondage that lies in tradition, especially in the Asian culture. Until, I got awakened at New Joy Church which completely transformed my life.

As a 21 years old Christian, I knew I would regret when I go to heaven without serving God with all that I had when I was on earth. However, reality and flesh weakness overrode this fact. Not that I feel obligated to but it is my deep desire from within, knowing that God is all worthy. Until the encounter with God back in 2011 at New Joy Church, I finally was empowered to surrender and offer my life to Him. Later on in 2013, I felt a strong calling to serve Hong Kong and its people down the road and there have been many confirmations ever since. During a conversation with God, I asked Him how would it be possible for me to afford a living in Hong Kong, while it's so expensive to live in, not to mention doing full time ministry. I asked God for a business that I can perhaps start in Vancouver and bring it back to Hong Kong, so I may have steady income while I serve there one day. By the end of 2013, I was in awe to see how God put all my desires into one opportunity where I can handle by partnering with Him, and all I needed to do was to step out as He puts everything together for me. Let's see how God did that.

Starting from scratch, me and Truman were sitting at Starbucks trying to figure out where we should start. First thing we worried about was finding a venue, not only it had to be cheap rent as we were not charging any income for the first production, but it also had to be a professional setting as we were filming the production for our portfolio. That did not even sound reasonable; however, once we thought of a prospective venue, we drove there immediately to find out more. My mouth dropped as we found out how God answered our prayers within 10 mins. Next thing we worried about was finding a good musical material, not only we have not done a musical before, we have never done a children's musical in English before. After looking through many websites, most musical materials were not good enough, songs not catchy and stories not to the point. I prayed in front of the computer and as I looked up, I saw an image, went straight into the link and found the best musical materials I could ask for. Next thing we worried about was finding students, but we trusted God would surely provide by that time, we started with 2 auditions and ending with 5 because it quickly filled up and we had to cap it. God even provided media support (t.v. and radio) without us pushing for it. God's design is always perfect, He brought Fiona on board where we later realized we could separately teach acting, singing, and dancing. Not only that, He also provided a perfect place, Capstan Alliance Church, for us to practice where we later realized we could efficiently use their rooms back to back. Lastly, of course, we started with 2 show times ending with 5 because they were quickly sold out.

It was an incredible ride that I could never dreamed of, and this is just the beginning of walking out my destiny in Him! I pray that you will receive this as an impartation and find out and walk out your destiny in Him, with Him!
